IImplementation of a QR code-based traceability system in a household utensils company
Main Article Content
Abstract
Quality management is a strategic element for the competitiveness and sustainability of industrial companies. In this context, traceability is recognized as an essential requirement to ensure control of production processes, product compliance, and customer satisfaction, particularly in organizations certified under the ISO 9001:2015 standard. However, many companies still face limitations associated with the use of manual records and fragmented systems, which hinder the effective tracking of products throughout their life cycle. This work aims to contribute to the improvement of quality management through the implementation of a traceability system based on QR codes at the National Industrial Company Producing Household Utensils “Primero de Mayo.” The research was developed using theoretical and empirical methods, including documentary analysis, surveys, interviews, and direct observation. The diagnostic results revealed deficiencies in batch identification, delays in responding to complaints, and limited information integration. As a main outcome, a SiSProQR system was proposed, structured into: design, training, pilot implementation, and generalization phases, aimed at ensuring the unique identification of products, reducing errors, and strengthening data-driven decision-making. It is concluded that implementing a traceability system with QR codes is a viable and low-cost alternative to improve quality management and customer satisfaction in Cuban industrial companies.
